Flash, LSOs, and security

One thing we’ve been digging into lately is the issue of browser security, and specifically the concern about “Flash cookies”, and Flash LSO objects, which appear to be a form of cross-browser cookies. Here’s a link to a Firefox tool named BetterPrivacy, which discusses the Flash LSO problem.


U.S. military drones are hacked

The U.S. military does not use encryption on the last leg of video communications with the drones that fly over Iraq and Afghanistan, and apparently their communications have been hacked. The hackers apparently used a $25.95 Windows application to track the aircraft, and see which areas the U.S. is flying over.

Oh, and apparently the military has known about the problem since the 1990s. Argh.
